1) Realtime Spam protection with Total Value & Total Value Plus Subscription
The Total Value Subscription includes the spam-Defense technology from Commtouch integrating Commtouch Recurrent Pattern Detection(TM) (RPD) solutions which into Cyberoam's UTM solutions. This integration leverages RPD's Real-Time Detection Center, which analyzes large volumes of Internet traffic in real time, and identifies new spam, virus and phishing outbreaks based on their characteristic mass distribution pattern so emerging outbreaks are identified moments after they are introduced into the Internet. Engines query the Commtouch Center to receive message classification in real-time, resulting in instant protection for users from new outbreaks - far ahead of signatures or software update. Another way looking at it is this. Normal email is sent from one source to one or several destinations. Most spam outbreaks are from 'botnets' that send the message from multiple sources to multiple destinations. The RDP monitors this in real time and when it identifies an outbreak it immediately flags it ands updates it system. All subscribers therefore have immediate protect ion. Contrast this to a 'scoring' system that actually scans the headers and body of each email for 'known' spam words and patterns. This is not always accurate, results in false negatives and false positives and also increases the load on the mail server.

2) Spam Protection with Security Value Subscription
This is based on Real Time Black (RBL) lists that are continually update from various RBL providers. A Realtime Blackhole List is a list of the IP addresses of known spammers. This is not a paid service but uses publically available RBL lists. Note, this feature is native to the base product so therefore it is also present on the Total Values bundles.

3) L4 Networks Recommendation
If you have your own mail server within your enterprise, then the Total Value Subscription Plus is the best choice. Even if it is hosted externally, then the Total Value Subscription Plus or the Total Value Subscription is a still better value in terms of spam features.
